Islamabad:
The president of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reprimanded the opposition parties – the PTI – for their alleged double standards, affirming that they benefit from advantages and privileges of the same parliament which they call “false”.
“I ask whether it is justified to simultaneously withdraw wages and to hold key offices in the lower and upper houses of the Parliament while calling it false,” said Sadiq on Friday during his media interaction during the ceremony for launching the planting of trees drives the Moghol garden in the house of Parliament.
The speaker said that opposition legislators led to the Assembly to protest and neglect issues of public importance.
Sadiq also revealed that the opposition had not yet offered names for the new election commissioner (CEC). “Despite the official correspondence of the Secretariat of the National Assembly on February 19, 2025, the opposition has so far not appointed names for the CEC,” he said.
While discussing the current events of the assembly, the speaker accused the opposition leader – Omar Ayub – of deception, saying that he speaks at length on the ground of the house and then said to the media that he did not have the opportunity to speak.
President Sadiq revealed that the head of the opposition had delivered an hour and 21 minute speech during the current session, but after the speech, he was released and told the media that he had not had the chance to speak. “Isn’t that a contradiction,” he questioned.
