Karachi: Karachi police recorded a case against Farhan Ghani, PPP chief and president of Chanesar Town, who is the brother of the Minister of the Local Government of Sindh, Saeed Ghani.
The case was filed with the Ferozabad police station on the complaint of a government employee, Hafiz Sohail, who allegedly alleged that he had been attacked while supervising fiber cable work on a service road off Shahrah-E-Faisal on August 22.
The FIR has appointed Farhan and its five partners under attempts to murder and terrorism, as well as other provisions of the law.
The head of the PPP and president of the city is currently in police custody because he, as well as four of his assistants, went overnight.
The complainant declared in the FIR that he was employed by the government and had been responsible for supervising cable work in underground fiber. He said he was present on the site when about 20 to 25 men, including Farhan, Qamar Ahmed and Shakeel, arrived in three vehicles.
The group would have confronted Sohail, asking him to stop the work and wonder if he had permission to widen the road, said the FIR.
Sohail said he had told them that he held all the relevant nights, stressing that the work was carried out with the approval of all the competent authorities.
He said Farhan’s men then attacked him, pointed to weapons with the intention of killing. He also said that they had taken him to a nearby service station office, where he had been tortured.
Meanwhile, a police van arrived at the scene, the saving from the group, took him to the police station, added the FIR.
Reacting to the report, the Minister of the LG said that his brother, as well as his partners, would face the law after the registration of a case against them.
In a statement published in the early hours of Sunday, the minister confirmed that an altercation had taken place the day before between Farhan and Sohail.
He said that Sohail had exercised his legal law by depositing a fir on the incident.
The Minister added that Farhan and the others involved would appear before the authorities and dispute the case before the courts.
“They will prove their innocence in court,” said the minister.
