SAG-AFTRA Actor Awards 2026-2027: dates revealed

SAG-AFTRA Actor Awards 2026-2027: dates revealed

SAG-AFTRA has officially revealed the dates for the next two acting awards ceremonies, with the 33rd annual show set to air live on Netflix on Sunday, February 28, 2027.

The announcement, coming just moments after the Academy revealed its own schedule for the 99th and 100th Academy Awards, confirms that the guild’s flagship event will begin at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT).

In a move that gives the industry ample time to prepare, the organization has also set the date for the 34th edition of the Actor Awards, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 20, 2028.

These dates mark the fourth and fifth years of the ongoing partnership between SAG-AFTRA and Netflix, ensuring that the ceremony remains accessible to a global audience.

Formerly known as the SAG Awards, the renamed Actor Awards continue to be a vital bellwether for the Oscars.

This was proven once again this year when the four individual winners, Michael B. Jordan, Jessie Buckley, Sean Penn and Amy Madigan, repeated their success at the Oscars.

With the 2027 ceremony taking place exactly two weeks before the 99th Academy Awards on March 14, the results are expected to be more pivotal than ever.

The Actor Awards hold a unique place in the Hollywood calendar as the only televised ceremony dedicated exclusively to film and television performers.

The voting process is especially important because winners are chosen by the members of the guild, a diverse community of more than 160,000 artists.

This makes it the largest voting body in the entire awards landscape, often providing a much more accurate reflection of industry sentiment than smaller committees.

The show covers 15 different categories, celebrating everything from individual lead roles to much-admired collective awards.

While fans are still excited about the latest ceremony hosted by Kristen Bell, which saw Harrison Ford win the Lifetime Achievement Award, the focus is now on the 2026-2027 season.

Although specific submission deadlines have not yet been confirmed, SAG-AFTRA has promised that other key dates will be released in the coming weeks.

For now, ‘Save the Dates’ are firmly on the agenda, paving the way for two more years of celebrating the best in acting on a global platform.
