Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) Salman Akram Raja has decided to leave the post of secretary general of the party, saying that he will meet the founder of the PTI Imran Khan tomorrow and asks him to relieve him of his functions.
“Today, an incident has occurred which now requires a clear decision on my part. My life is an open book. None of my actions in conflict with a principle. Tomorrow [Tuesday]I will ask Imran Khan to leave the post, “he said in a post on X.
The principal lawyer was appointed secretary general of the PTI last year in September, following the resignation of the main leader of the Omar Ayub party.
Ayub had resigned from the position in June.
By taking at X, Raja stressed that despite his distance from the position, he will continue to offer his legal services to PTI for free.
“During the period of the PTI test, I entered the political arena with legal assistance under the direction of [Imran Khan]. My goal was to contribute to the fight for the supremacy of the Constitution, the Law and Democracy, “he added.
Sources within the PTI revealed that Raja took a step following a disagreement with Aleema Khan for the participation of the party in the next partial elections.
The sources said that Aleema opposed participation in the by -elections, saying that the decision was completely against the clear instructions of Khan.
Raja, however, would have transmitted the position of the political committee and the rupture of voting. According to sources, 13 members of the committee favored the disputed by the partial elections, while 9 were opposed.
The disagreement would have left Raja discouraged, which ultimately prompted its decision to withdraw from the role of key party.
