- Samsung has confirmed more details on the UI program
- Galaxy S25 phones will receive a full update in September
- An UI 8 watch will hit older watches later in the year
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 have been launched with a preinstalled Android 16 user interface (based on Android 16), and the deployment for older phones is not far away: Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S25 series will update the software in September.
Samsung has confirmed the news in a press release, which also announced that the in progress Beta One 8 program will extend to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 next week, before reaching more devices next month.
The test phase for an 8 user interface started in May – and shortly after the official introduction of an IU 7 in fact. Samsung is clearly eager to make up for the Android launch calendar from Google, which has been moved further this year.
Among the features that the software update brings with it upgrades to Audio Bluetooth (allowing multiple and simultaneous connections), improved sharing options, more capacities for the bar now and upgrades to safety on devices.

An IU 8 will be accompanied at one point by updating the only UI 8 Watch for the best Samsung watches, but it seems that the wait that will be a little longer – it will happen “later in the year”, says Samsung.
You can already get an UI 8 watch on your wrist, but only on a selected number of models: the brand new Galaxy Watch 8 or Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, the Galaxy Watch Ultra for 2025, or the original Galaxy Watch Ultra in 2024.
As is the case with phones and their software update, there is also a beta version for watches – but when writing the editorial’s time, it is only available for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series and only if you are in the United States or in the country of origin of Samsung in South Korea.
An UI 8 watch brings with it a selection of useful upgrades, including new tools to monitor sleep and improve your races, and antioxidant measurements. More improvements, including Gemini AI, could also be on the track.
