- A leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro could have a new “useless” ultra-large camera
- Most other specifications may not be improved
- This could mean that the Galaxy S26 PRO is struggling to compete with the iPhone 17
With each new model of Samsung Galaxy, there is the expectation that the specifications will be improved, and although this is certainly the case with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro, the last leak suggests that its upgrades could be minimal.
According to the reputation of leakage @universeiceice, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro will have a 1080p screen like the Samsung Galaxy S25, and “the telephoto is always the smallest 10MP sensor in the industry that has been used for ages”.
Regarding upgrades, @universeice says that the phone will include a new 50MP ultra-large sensor (against 12MP on the Galaxy S25), but they describe this as “useless”. Thus, the megapixels aside, may not be an improvement.
As far as I know, the greatest upgrade of the Galaxy S26 Pro is simply to add the word “pro” to its name. The ultra-large camera has been replaced by an unnecessary 50 MP sensor, the main camera uses a new model but the size remains unchanged, and the telephoto is always the⦠pic.twitter.com/qpin2sbwkqSeptember 11, 2025
They also claim that the main camera will change, but the size (probably of the sensor) will not be.
Of course, even if this leak is correct, there could be upgrades elsewhere, but they add that “apart from that, there is really nothing new”, so other than a new chipset, there could not be much to do here.
Not very pro
If this is the case, that makes rename the fame of the Samsung Galaxy S26 at the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro all the more questionable and confusing, because this phone seems to have trouble corresponding even iPhone 17, not to mention the iPhone 17 Pro.
As a reminder, the iPhone 17 has a 1206 x 2622 screen, which is a higher resolution than 1080 x 2340 of the Galaxy S25, and by the sounds of this leak, it is probably also a higher resolution than the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro.
The iPhone 17 also has a 48 MP main camera and a 48MP Ultra-Large. He does not have the telephoto camera found on the Galaxy S25, but by the sounds of this leak, the vivaneau of the telephoto of the Galaxy S26 Pro will not be much anyway.
In addition, with its A19 chipset, the iPhone 17 is more powerful than what we expect to ensure that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro is, and with upgrades to its cooling rate, two of its cameras, and its battery life, it also seems to be a significant improvement in its predecessor, that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro is not.
There is still hope for Samsung’s phone – especially since @universeice tends to have a fairly negative vision of Samsung devices, whether deserved or not. But if it really has a “pro” in the name, people will expect a lot, and so far it does not look like this phone will deliver enough.
