Samsung is already talking about the Galaxy S26 series, because while these phones probably won’t hit shelves until January – and might not launch until March – Daniel Araujo, vice president of Samsung’s Mobile Experience division, has revealed some of what we can expect.
During Samsung’s Q3 2025 earnings call (via Android Authority), Araujo claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series “will revolutionize user experience with next-generation user-centric AI, second-generation personalized hotspot, and higher performance, including new camera sensors.”
So there’s a bit to unpack here, but talk of a custom AP likely refers to either Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2600 chipset or a custom “for Galaxy” version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. In all likelihood, it actually refers to both, as Samsung typically uses a mix of Exynos and Snapdragon chipsets depending on model and region.
The question of cameras
The mention of new camera sensors is more explicit, but a sensor change could mean significant improvements, including a higher megapixel count, or it could be a much more minor change, leaving the cameras similar to current models.
If nothing else, this at least suggests that a rumor reporting completely unchanged cameras on the base Galaxy S26 might be false – although it’s possible that Araujo is simply referring to the Plus or Ultra models here.
We’d previously heard that the base Samsung Galaxy S26 could have either a new main sensor – but still 50 MP – or a new 50 MP ultra-wide camera, so it now seems likely that one or both of these leaks could be correct.
Finally, there’s talk of next-gen AI, which isn’t really a surprise, but suggests that AI will once again be the center of attention on these phones – although whether any of this will truly “revolutionize the user experience” is more debatable.
Let’s hope Araujo’s claim here isn’t an exaggeration, because if it isn’t, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series could rank among the most exciting phones of 2026.
