Our smartphones are capable of tracking a whole host of stats and information about us, and Samsung is apparently going to add something new to the mix: a Brain Health feature that monitors early signs of dementia.
We don’t know much about it yet, as Samsung hasn’t officially announced it, but according to a report on Chosun Biz (via Android Authority), the Brain Health service is going to be unveiled at the CES 2026 show which begins on Tuesday, January 6.
According to the report, Brain Health will keep tabs on your voice, gait and sleep patterns to monitor indicators of cognitive decline. The data will apparently be collected by both your phone and any Samsung wearable devices you have.
Clinical validation is apparently underway for this, although Brain Health can’t say for sure whether or not you’re at risk for dementia – only if you may be showing signs of it that you should discuss with your doctor.
Dementia prevention
The report says brain health will also include “enhancement and prevention functions” to keep your brain sharp and reduce the chances of developing dementia in the future. For example, a brain training program would be included.
All sensitive data will be protected by Samsung Knox security, according to Chosun Biz, and the data will be managed locally rather than being sent to the cloud. It seems likely that this will work in tandem with what Samsung Health already offers.
While the prospect of developing dementia isn’t something any of us want to think about, it happens – and brain health appears to be a useful way to detect it early, as well as explore ways to contain cognitive decline.
