- The Samsung Galaxy S25 series marks the end of support for Samsung messages
- Samsung’s latest flagship products are delivered with Google Messages as a Messenger application by default
- Samsung messages have been removed from digital windows
Samsung has discreetly disabled one of its native applications for users of the Samsung Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25 Plus and the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The company has rendered its Samsung Messages application completely unavailable for users of its latest series of flagship phones, rather equipping these devices with default Google messages.
The Galaxy S25 family is not the first Samsung phones to launch without Samsung Messages – The Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 made their debut last year with Google Messages as default email application. Users of these phones, however, had the possibility of installing and activating Samsung messages later. Galaxy S25 owners do not have such an option – these are Google messages or nothing.
As Phonearena notes, Samsung puts users on the older galaxy models who have already installed the application to continue using it.
However, a certain concern has appeared on the future of Samsung messages on older devices – with the application from stores and no future promised support, it is unlikely that significant updates and even lack upgrades security day.
A Samsung spokesperson published a statement to Android Authority on January 23 which offers an overview of the company’s decision to discuss Google Messages: “With the close collaboration between Google and Samsung, we have chosen to migrate all Services to Google Messages and are SUNTING SAMSUNG messages. It is no longer available in the Play Store; However, those who have chosen to use Samsung messages can still do so. »»
The instruction adds that the RCS functionality improved by Google Messages has been a factor in the decision: “We think that the added functionality of RCS messaging on Google messages creates an improved user experience for Android messaging in Android and all platforms. “
The previous steps far from Samsung messages and to Google messages were encountered by loyal galaxy fans. A thread on R / Googlemessages discussing Verizon’s decision to delete RCS support from Samsung messages in December 2024 included comments like “Samsung made me go to Google messages less than a week ago and it was horrible Since “Wolfievond user, and” not satisfied on having to use Google messages. Can google leave any space intact[?]“User Iall-Room-5460.
Despite the possible manifestations, it is unlikely that we will see this inverted decision. Google Messages is preinstalled in all the best Android phones and, thanks to this switch, will be standard on the best Samsung phones in the future.
