Philadelphia’s star in Eagles, Saquon Barkley, did not accept President Donald Trump’s invitation to sit on sport, fitness and nutrition, he told journalists on the training camp on Monday.
Trump signed a decree on July 31, which restored the council as well as the presidential physical conditioning test. By signing order, Trump planned to fight against “the generalized epidemic of the decline in health and physical condition with a proven approach celebrating the exceptionalism of American sports and fitness traditions”.
Trump was surrounded by several athletes at the signing, including the Legend of the New York Giants, Lawrence Taylor and the kansas City, Harrison Butker managers.

And at a press conference announcing the order, Trump appointed Barkley among the members of the council as well as the commissioner of the NFL Roger Goodell, Nick Bosa of San Francisco 49ers, Tua Tagovailoa and Bustker of Miami Dolphins.
But Barkley set the record straight on Monday when he questioned his role with the Council.
“A few months ago, he was brought to my team about the council, so I don’t really know him,” he said by NBC Philadelphia. “I felt like I was super busy, so I and my family thought it was probably in the best interest in not accepting this. So,, then, [I] It was really a little shocked when my name was mentioned, but I guess it’s something great. I appreciate it, but I was a little shocked when my name was mentioned. “”

The President’s Council on Fitness of Young people was founded in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and the PRESIDENTIAL PHYSICAL FITNESS Award was created in 1966 by Lyndon B. Johnson.
When the program was created for the first time, the children had to execute and carry out situations, pull-ups or pumps and a sit-and-up test.
The presidential fitness test was removed by President Barack Obama, and the Council under his presidency created the fitness program for young presidentials.

“We must reinstall the spirit of competition and this spirit and this commitment to nutrition and physical form,” added Kennedy.
Barkley, who helped Eagles to a Super Bowl Lix title during the 2024 NFL season, his first year in Philadelphia, participated in a sports activity with the 47th president in the past. They were spotted on Trump’s golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, before the team visit to the White House to celebrate their victory over the Chiefs.
Barkley was criticized for having Golf with Trump and having brought Air Force One with the president to Washington DC, he criticized these criticisms via social media.
“Lol some people are really upset because I played golf and I took the plane to the White House with the president,” Barkley tweeted at the time. “Maybe I respect the office, not a concept that is difficult to understand. There is no golf with Obama not so long ago … And I can’t wait to finish my tour with Trump! Now you go out my mentions with all this policy and spend an incredible day.”

Trump also had complimentary praise for Barkley, calling him “nice guys”.
“I wanted to run it, but I decided not to do it,” joked the president.
Barkley focuses on the defense of the Vince Lombardi trophy after having had its best year in the NFL, after its first six with the New York Giants. Penn State’s product led the NFL in yards on the ground (2,005) and melee yards (2,283) with 15 combined touchdown during the regular season.
Consequently, Barkley won the offensive player of the year, while winning the honors of the first All-Pro team and his third selection of Pro Bowl.
