Pakistan sent 727,381 skilled workers to the countries of the Middle East and European countries in 2024, a record figure aimed at reducing unemployment and the increase in shipments of funds, the media managed by the State reported on Thursday.
According to the Pakistan Associated Press (APP), most workers were employed in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman, while a large number has also obtained jobs in European countries.
The Ministry of Pakistani and Overseas Human Resources has credited the realization of “aggressive marketing strategies, improved facilitation and strengthened links with international employers”.
“This historic achievement is a brilliant testimony of the government’s unshakable commitment to provide Pakistani workers with lucrative employment possibilities abroad,” said the application of the application.
Pakistan’s workforce plays a crucial role in supporting the economy, the shipments of funds serving as a vital exchange source in the current macroeconomic challenges. The sharp increase in employment abroad should have a positive impact on economic stability by increasing foreign entries.
In January, the Minister of Overseas Pakistani, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, underlined the accent put by the government on the expansion of opportunities in Saudi Arabia while guaranteeing a more skilled workforce to improve competitiveness on the Middle East labor market.
Pakistan sends approximately one million qualified workers abroad each year, contributing both to economic growth and exchange reserves.
