SC defends life for life for retirement judges

The Supreme Court (SC) defended the life of life on Saturday provided to its retired judges. The SC has mentioned that the arrangement is lawful and supported by the presidential order, given their past tasks and sensitive security risks.

A court spokesperson said that the recently published circular aims to implement established security protocols, to expand the deployment of force beyond what the law allows and to guarantee better coordination between the Supreme Court, the Ministry of the Interior and Provincial Governments.

“It is not an extraordinary favor or additional privileges,” said the spokesperson. “It is a question of aligning security on legal rights and preventing unnecessary overuse of state resources.”

In accordance with this approach, the court also rationalized the details of the security of the chief judge, reducing the official convoy of eight vehicles for two. This change released a considerable number of security personnel for routine police.

“The decision reflects the determination of the Supreme Court to ensure the prudent use of public funds while retaining appropriate security standards,” noted the court.

Security for service judges has also been revised to raise their legal rights and suppress excessive or inconsistent deployments.

Managers added that the new framework establishes a balance between institutional needs, security realities and public responsibility.

The circular, said the court, is administrative in nature and strengthens the message according to which public resources must be used judiciously, even in questions as sensitive as judicial security.
