SC to hear a matter of outrage against Imran on March 21

Islamabad:

The Supreme Court set out the request for the court on Saturday against the president of the PTI Foundation and former Prime Minister Imran Khan for having heard on March 21.

A constitutional bench of five members, led by Judge Amicin Khan, will hear the case. The bench includes judge Jamal Khan Mandokhail, judge Naeem Akhtar Afghan, judge Hashim Khan Kakar and judge Aamer Farooq.

The petition for contempt was filed by the federal government concerning the decision of the founder of the PTI to direct on May 25, 2022, long march in D-CHOWK instead of the designated protest site.

During the last hearing, the court had asked for a response to the government to find out if it intended to continue the case.

The legal advisor of the founder of the PTI, Salman Akram Raja, has already submitted an answer.

In 2022, the Supreme Court had allocated specific land for the long march, and the legal representatives of PTI had ensured respect for the designated route. However, the march, led by the founder of the PTI, reached Jinnah Avenue on May 26, 2022, where it ended. The demonstrators would have put the trees near D-Chowk on fire during the demonstration.

Meanwhile, the constitutional bench which will hear important affairs from March 17 to 21. These include cases related to stone crushing, the rights of sanitation workers, pensions and benefits for the widow of the deceased judge Arshad Malik, as well as a SOO motu opinion on the deaths caused by pneumonia and hepatitis.
