ESPN will acquire the NFL network and other multimedia assets, including the Popular Redzone Channel, of the NFL.

In exchange, the League will receive a 10% participation in the sports network as part of a historic agreement, both parties announced on Tuesday.

The change of control has aroused a certain fear of football fans as to whether the agreement would cause changes.

But one thing that does not seem to change anytime soon is the Redzone host. Scott Hanson, who has anchored Redzone since 2009, went to social networks to alleviate concerns about his role for the 2025 season.

Hanson confirmed that he would resume his normal accommodation tasks for the coming season. He also expressed his optimism as to the agreement between ESPN and the NFL.

“It’s official. (And for those who wonder: yes, I will always welcome Redzone.) Pulled for an excellent season! Optimistic about this new partnership!” Hanson wrote on X.

Hanson’s popularity with viewers has increased over the years, and has received praise for his memorable slogans. His contract with NFL Media would have expired at the end of last season. Hanson confirmed that he had negotiated a new agreement, allowing him to return for the 2025 season.

Under the agreement, the NFL will continue to own, exploit and produce Redzone Channel Programming from its studios in South California. ESPN will take care of the distribution of cables and satellites, while the League will retain the rights to distribute it on digital platforms.

“By combining these media assets from the NFL with ESPN’s scope and innovation, we create a leading destination for football fans,” said ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro, in a press release. “Together, ESPN and the NFL redefine the way fans are involved with the game – at any time, anywhere. This offer helps fuel the digital future of ESPN, laying the foundations for an even more robust offer while we are preparing to launch our new direct service to the consumer.”

NFL Network is expected to be added to the next streaming service directly to the ESPN consumer. The service should be launched this fall and will offer access to the professional and university Sports ESPN portfolio.
