- He also teased a potentially enormous link with the founder of Godolkin University
Gen V Episode 4 of season 2 has now been released – and it has just raised the cover on certain details on the figure of Hamish Linklater.
The recently installed head of Godolkin University has been a hot topic of conversation among main video viewers since Boys“The college spin-off has returned to our screens. And, while I suspect that there are many more great revelations concerning Cipher to come, the last chapter of the series has already answered one of our biggest questions about it and involved a great link between the enigmatic dean and another mystery indidivision.
Complete spoilers immediately follow for season 2 of episode 4, entitled “Bags”. Return now if you haven’t looked at it yet.
What are Cipher’s powers in generation V?
Certainly, we have only been initiated to Cipher Gen V First of three episodes of season 2. However, unlike all other people in a position of power at Godolkin University (God U), he has deliberately showed his powers in any of these entries.
So far, then it was not clear if Cipher had Superhuman capacities, which Marie Moreau becomes convinced in “bags”. During a private lesson where Cipher helps Marie improving her blood manipulation capacities, she apparently learns that he is not a Supe. Indeed, she later said to Jordan, Emma and Cate, she could not feel any compound V – the serum that gives people superpowers – in Cipher’s blood.
So it makes it 100% human, right? Yes and no.
Confused? Let me explain. Before Gen V The last episode of season 2 ends, it is apparently revealed that Cipher is a telepath. He can not only read people like Cate, but also control them. The latter seems to be proven by his ability to own Jordan during their television force test with Marie, who is created by the Vought public relations team as a damage exercise after the revelations that Jordan made on the Supe-Manufacturing manufacturing company at the end of episode 3.
Also obvious to say, but the possibility that Cipher is an incredibly powerful telepath could have major repercussions to move forward.
To start, this shows why Cipher has always been two steps in advance on Marie and Company Gen Vsecond season. Indeed, it seems that he can read their minds and see what they think, and see what information they hide. For example, how would he otherwise know that the gang turned him secretly during the fight of Jordan and Marie in order to make him a confession that he might not have been a Supe?
It is Cipher’s ability to physically grasp the mind of a person and to control them, however, that expresses the danger for Mary and her allies. If Cipher does not like what they say or about to do, he can easily manipulate them by saying or doing the opposite. The prospect of being able to have one of them without touching them physically – this is the only way that Cate was able to wash the brain to do something, for information – is sure to spread mistrust through the group. After all, how can they know that the words or actions of their friends do not really come from Cipher?
There are other questions that must answer, such as the way in which Cipher has hidden his blood composed of the infused blood of Mary. The key to responding to this request can reside in the other great narrative development that we learn in the last episode of Amazon TV original. Speaking of that …
Who is the burned man in Cipher’s secret room? And what is its connection with Thomas Godolkin?
While Cipher leads his head-to-head lesson with Marie, Cate and Jordan manage to infiltrate Cipher’s house. They do it by stealing the keys to his bodyguard, which is forced to commit an obscene act on a garden gnome nearby by Cate.
Anyway, after entering, they use the keys to access the secret room of Cipher’s home. It was the one behind a giant steel door that Cate spotted when she left Cipher’s house in episode 3.
Once inside, they find a man strongly marked who apparently slept in a hyperbaric room. These sealed rooms are regularly used in hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which sees patients breathing in 100% oxygen to speed up the healing process. While Jordan takes a quick photo, the individual inside wakes up, which sends the fleeing pair for the exit. The identity of this mystery character is therefore not clear.
Or is it? During the Duel Marie-Jordan staged, Cipher reveals to Cate that the man inside the hyperbaric room is none other than his father. This revelation would be sufficiently surprising in itself, but I apply the theory that this individual is only anyone. Indeed, I think it’s Thomas Godolkin himself.
During the 1967 Flashback scene in one of the first first first order video shows, we see Godolkin vanish due to carbon monoxide poisoning when a fire breaks down in a Vought laboratory. He does it after Godolkin’s scientific colleagues have injected themselves with an early form of compound V – a situation that is unleashed quickly and apparently leads to the death of everyone inside the establishment, including Godolkin.
Since we do not see Godolkin die on the camera, however, it was always possible that he survived. Of course, it will have been seriously burned but, given the wild treatment in possession of Vought – Remember, we saw Stormfront survive a fiery event and pele Boys Final of season 2 – There is no reason to suspect Goldolkin perished during this otherwise deadly laboratory disaster.
As you would expect, it raises questions about what Cipher does. He keeps his father alive with the hope that Godolkin can be completely healed and restart the work on Gen VOdessa project? Does Cipher try to improve Mary’s power level because her blood manipulation capacities have the key to fully healing Godolkin? And, as Cipher claims, God was really founded in order to create Mary and transform her into the most powerful Super in the world? I would not be shocked if the answer to these requests is a resounding “yes”.
But wait, there is more. As the Post Reddit above suggests, some fans believe that Godolkin is actually puppet events in his hyperbaric room. Indeed, some viewers believe that Cipher is not only Godolkin’s son, but also a ship through which he can manipulate the situation in its end.
We know that Godolkin was the right man of Frederick Vought, the founder of Supe Corp and former member of the third Reich. As evidenced by his collection of Nazi and KKK memories in a secret room in the God U library, Godolkin also subscribed to the extreme right ideology. It is not an exaggerated to say that Godolkin is an extremely nasty individual, then.
But let’s go back to his links with Cipher. If Marie is right to say that she could not feel the compound V in Cipher’s blood, it is likely that Godolkin is the individual with telepathic capacities. Using these powers, he can have a figure, make him do the auction of Godolkin and design everything in the shadows for his global plan of Homelander and Vought for this new world order which they provide.
But what do you think of all this? Let me know your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
