Foundation Episode 3 of season 3 landed on Apple TV + – and he presents a character who seems to play a major role in the biggest touch of history of this season.
The last entry of this season, entitled “ When a book Finds You ”, sees Han Pritcher (Brandon P Bell), as well as Toran and Bayta Mallow (Cody Fern and Synnøve Karlsen), attend a sumptuous party which is organized by the mule on Kalgan. Remember: Pritcher asked the newly married Mallows to accompany him while he was under cover to try to find out more about Foundation The main villain of season 3, and it is during this evening that we finally meet the individual to whom I am referring.
Complete spoilers immediately follow for Foundation The last episode of season 3 and the series of books by Isaac Asimovon which the original Apple TV is based. Now go back if you haven’t broadcast it yet.
Magnifico Giganitcus, a musician who works for the mule (Pilou Asbaek) – apparently against his will, given the way in which the mule treats him – and who is represented by Tómas Lemarquis, is the character in which we are presented. Viewers can recognize the Lemarquis by Caliban by X-Men: ApocalypseThe third entry of the X-Men Reboot films of 20th Century Fox.
Despite the fact that he treated unfairly (read: physically abused) by the mule FoundationMagnifico is a key element of the interior circle of the old. Indeed, Magnifico’s music not only keeps the mule calm, but also has an emotionally intoxicating effect on people who are not used to hearing it. We see as much in the third episode of this season, with many people hypnotized by its electronic beats on the dance floor.
Anyway, long story short: Magnifico fled Kalgan with Toran and Bayta after the latter convinced him to leave with them. The pair thinks that they can know more about the Magnifico mule, which could help the foundation in its attempts to prevent the mule from becoming the new tyrant of the galaxy.
But everything is not what seems, because Magnifico is not a real person, and he is not someone who actively wants to help the foundation either.
In “Foundation and Empire”, the second novel of the original “Foundation” book “Foundation” by Asimov, he finally revealed that Magnifico is the disguised mule. Indeed, it is a facade so that the mule can learn the location of the second foundation, alias the secret collective of Mentalics – essentially, people with psychic capacities like the mule – which is directed (in one of the best emissions of Apple TV +, in any case) of Gaal Dornick.
FoundationThe television adaptation seems to have slightly modified this scenario, Magnifico being probably a kind of holographic projection created by the mule. In this way, the psionic warlord can be in two places at the same time, Asbaek playing the mule and Lemarquis attacking the role of Magnifico.
If Apple’s live reimagination follows the rest of this script because it is described in the literary works of Asimov, the revelation that Magnifico is in fact the mule will be an extremely shocking moment for anyone looking at the show but has not read the books. Well, it would be if I hadn’t just spoiled it – but hey, it’s your fault for reading an article that warned you that there were big spoilers to come!
We will see if the mule and the Magnifico are only one and the same thing as the technology giant space opera is progressing. In the meantime, read the exclusive coverage of season 3 below.
