- Apple has renewed Foundation For a fourth season
- The shooting will start in the next episode of the series at the beginning of 2026
- We do not know if the original plan of eight seasons of the science fiction epie is always followed
Apple has officially renewed Foundation For a fourth season.
The announcement came on the same date (September 12) as Foundation The final episode of season 3 made its Apple TV +debut, and fans can finally sigh in relief on the future of science fiction after months of radio silence.
While reports in February suggested that Foundation Season 4 was already in development, Apple had given no indication that it was in fact the case. In fact, there was so much secret in the possible return of the space opera that his cast did not know that a fourth season had been Green-Bloved by Apple leaders.
Addressing me at the end of June before the arrival of season 3, the stars Lou Llobell and Jared Harris said that they did not know if Foundation would have a fourth season. This was also the case when I spoke to Llobell and another member of the distribution of season 3, Tomas Lemarquis, in early September, the pair admitting that they still had no idea of Foundation Season 4 would be born.
Fortunately, Apple’s entertainment division has now ended all speculation.
Commenting on the renewal of the show, Apple’s program manager Michael Chernis said: “It was fantastic to watch Foundation Become such a global phenomenon, with fans connecting from everyone in the world. Each new season, excitement around this pioneering science fiction epic continues to build itself due to the daring narration and the collective art of this team and this extraordinarily talented creative team. We are delighted to continue to explore this universe in season four. “”
Confirmation that one of the best Apple TV + programs will come back is not the only announcement concerning the show. Apple has also revealed that Ian Goldberg and David Kob share co-showrunning tasks on season 4, the pair replacing the co-creator David S Goyer to FoundationCreative Helm. Despite his decline in his showrunning duties last February, Goyer is part of the executive production team of the series.
“There is no series like Foundation And we feel lucky and honored to advance the torch as a co-showrunners in season four, “said Goldberg and Kob.” We are impatient to continue the epic, emotional narration that defined the first three seasons of the show, and to work alongside some of the most talented and passionate creative partners in the company. “”
The shooting must begin Foundation Season 4 at the beginning of 2026, which gives me the hope that the next episode of the original Apple TV acclaimed by criticism could make its bow on one of the best streaming services in the world in 2027. The fact that Apple did not announce that it will be the last season of the show suggests that the fifth season could also be a greenlit at some point.
While FoundationThe immediate future is secure, I am still not convinced that it will achieve its multi-season objective.
Before FoundationThe first season was published in September 2021, Goyer revealed that he had presented an eight seasons plan for Apple. However, in a Q&R published on his own website in August, Goyer has strongly suggested that this plan was no longer joined. “I do not believe that the new team respects one of these ideas,” he wrote. “They train their own path and get their own, as they should.”
What does this mean to FoundationThe eight seasons of eight seasons? It is possible that Goldberg, Kob and Company have only changed the part based on the history of Goyer’s plan. In my opinion, however, the most likely scenario is that the plan of eight Goyer seasons has been condensed, so much so that I would not be shocked if Foundation ends up running for five seasons.
We will not know it with certainty until another major update of the future of the show is provided by Apple. In the meantime, you can get the lowest on what happened in the last chapter of this season by reading my Foundation End of season 3 explained the article.
