At least three terrorists were killed when police and security forces repelled a terror attack on the police academy near Dera Ismail Khan on Friday. The banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to police sources, seven to eight armed attackers stormed the training center through the main entrance around 8 p.m., shooting randomly and using rocket launchers and automatic weapons.
Police said armored vehicles, special units and Al-Buraq Force personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene. The district police officer confirmed that security forces managed to surround the attackers inside the compound.
Saddar police station SHO Aftab said three militants were killed during the operation, which lasted more than three hours. He added that a coordinated response involving police, security forces and the Al-Buraq Division ultimately repelled the assault.

Residents in nearby areas reported hearing five loud explosions, with the first being so powerful that it shook surrounding buildings and caused panic in the neighborhood.
Six police officers were reportedly injured in the exchange of fire, although official confirmation was still awaited. Following the operation, the area was cordoned off and a search operation was launched to trace the remaining suspects.
Police officials noted that the incident took place when former Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur was arriving at Dera Ismail Khan from Peshawar. The sound of the explosions would have caused panic among the members of his convoy.
