The Senate Standing Committee on Interior met to discuss a bill to punish individuals involved in black magic and charms.
The meeting was chaired by Senator Faisal Saleem and the bill, introduced by Senator Samina Mumtaz, focuses on punishing those involved in black magic and promoting it.
The bill proposes a seven-year jail term for individuals involved in black magic and those who advertise it, Express News reported.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui questioned where the limits of black magic began and ended, mentioning that advertisements for such practices appeared regularly in newspapers. He also expressed concerns about the potential escalation of these practices.
Senator Samina Mumtaz responded by saying that black magic practitioners are destroying society. Senator Irfan Siddiqui retorted that the issue was sensitive, to which Senator Samina Mumtaz responded by saying she had no problem addressing it.
Senator Kamran shared his experience of visiting China and observing the locks on the Great Wall, while Senator Faisal Saleem inquired about the government’s actions in this regard.
Senator Samina explained that such practices are not part of Islam, saying that reading certain prayers on a grave or elsewhere should not be confused with black magic.
Senator Faisal Saleem praised the bill, stressing that it was a laudable initiative.
Senator Palwasha highlighted the exploitation of vulnerable people through black magic practices, while Senator Samina Mumtaz highlighted that such practices are illegal and involve immoral activities.
Senator Samina shared a disturbing example in which a practitioner of black magic might demand the blood of a murdered child from a client. Senator Irfan Siddiqui said that before creating a new law, defining black magic is a difficult task.
Senator Samina Mumtaz also pointed out that people practicing black magic are involved in heinous activities.
The committee decided to postpone discussion of the bill until the next meeting.
A month ago, Pakistani actor Feroze Khan’s mother recently said that her family was affected by black magic.
She shared this information on her YouTube channel, explaining how various mystical practices, including needles stuck in lemons and mysterious amulets, had been discovered in their home.
These events would have caused serious disruption in the family’s life.
The actor’s mother further explained that the negative effects of black magic led to illnesses within the family, including Feroze Khan and his father, both of whom fell ill unexpectedly.
She also mentioned that Feroze’s behavior changed significantly during this period, becoming unusually erratic. Furthermore, she claimed that family relationships had been severely affected, leading to conflict and increasing tension.
