Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Saturday in Moscow, thanking Russia for his “positive neutrality” during the recent tensions between India and Pakistan.
The 40 -minute meeting, held before the start of the high -level forum, was part of a larger interaction with five eminent Asian leaders in China, Turkiye, South Korea and Cambodia.
Senator Mushahid was the only guest in Pakistan, specially invited by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Russian power party to give an opening speech to the forum.
Lavrov has reaffirmed the position of Russia’s foreign policy to promote regional peace, security and stability.
Senator Mushahid appreciated the approach of Russia, in particular its balanced response during Indo -Pake tensions, and congratulated the Eurasian security initiative of President Putin, describing it as rooted in the principle of “indivisible security” – a concept has also echoed the global China security initiative.
Addressing the Russian media, Senator Mushahid congratulated the warmth of Russian-Pakistani ties and reiterated Islamabad’s support to a regional multipolar order.
“Russia and China, led by President Putin and President Xi Jinping, build a peaceful and prosperous Eurasia-and Pakistan is ready to be an equal partner in this trip,” he said.
During the Eurasian forum, assisted by more than 100 delegates from 25 countries, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Lavrov delivered a political discourse hitting Western alliances in Asia.
He responded directly to the concerns about India’s participation in the United States groups.
Lavrov denounced the Indo-Pacific Strategy, saying: “This Indo-Pacific never existed-the ATO invented this term to cause India in their anti-china diets.” His remarks were considered a reprimand of the growing role of India in the Quad Alliance, which includes the United States, Japan and Australia.
Lavrov added that if Indian officials claimed that their role in the quad was purely economic, the joint military exercises among the quadruple nations told another story.
“In practice, however, the quadruple nations are already trying – with notable persistence – to organize joint naval exercises,” he said. The commentary attracted an uncomfortable silence of the Indian delegation of 12 members, including three BJP parliamentarians, present at the Forum.
Lavrov accused NATO of having attempted a return to Afghanistan, warning: “Four years after their ignominious retirement, NATO is again looking for new entry points to Afghanistan.”
Senator Mushahid, during his media interactions, expressed his full support for Eurasian cooperation and denounced military blocks such as the Quad and the so-called “Asian NATO” as destabilizing companies. He underlined Pakistan’s commitment to diplomacy, the United Nations Charter and the regional construction of confidence.
The forum concluded with a strong call from Asian and Eurasian representatives to move away from military containment and to inclusive regional cooperation based on rules.
