The provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) has published an alert of heat waves for Punjab from May 15 to May 19, while the province accumulates for an intense hot time.

According to the PDMA, temperatures should increase significantly, potentially exceeding the normal levels of 4 to 7 degrees Celsius, posing serious health risks to the public.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department reports that continental winds are currently dominating most of the country’s regions, which leads to warm and dry weather conditions.

Wednesday, high temperatures should persist through the plains, the southern Punjab knowing the most serious heat. Large cities such as Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur and Faisalabad should record temperatures between 41 ° C and 42 ° C.

The PDMA warned that these conditions in force can intensify the heat wave, which has an impact on urban regions and plains.

The alert also indicates that extreme heat should continue on a large part of Punjab until May 20.

However, a west meteorological system should enter the province in the evening of May 19, potentially providing temporary relief in the form of lower temperatures and isolated precipitation.

The director general of the PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, ordered all the commissioners, commissioners and district administrations to remain on alert and to ensure preparation for the emergency room.

The relevant departments – including school training, health, transport, local government and rescue 1122 – were also responsible for implementing immediate precautionary measures to protect the public.

Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to sunlight, to wear light and cowardly clothes, to cover your head outside and to remain well hydrated. The authorities have also been responsible for ensuring the availability of clean drinking water in public places and equipping hospitals and mobile health units to provide timely first aid in heat -related emergencies.
