KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister and Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has strongly condemned the hateful and linguistically biased speeches made at a recent function at the Governor’s House, terming the choice of words and ideas deeply regrettable.

Addressing the Sindh Assembly, Memon called Sindh the land of Sufis, peace and tolerance, and recalled Karachi’s painful history of hatred, prejudice and linguistic tensions. He warned that similar remarks had already inflicted serious and lasting damage on the city’s social fabric.

The Sindh minister also criticized inappropriate references to state institutions during the event held a few days ago, saying such discussions do not suit a constitutional agenda and undermine civic harmony.

Memon expressed concern that elected officials are using such platforms to convey biased messages, noting that the incident, including MQM members addressing each other, threatens Karachi’s culture of peace and brotherhood.
