SHC interrupts Ku to dismiss the judge’s diploma

Karachi:

The High Court of the Sindh (SHC) suspended the decision of the University of Karachi (KU) to cancel the diploma of the judge of the High Court of Islamabad (IHC) Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.

A division bench led by judge Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro made this ordinance Friday while hearing the request of judge Jahangiri against the order of the University last week.

On August 31, 2024, the Union of the University of Karachi canceled the allegedly “invalid” degree of justice Jahangiri on the recommendations of the University University Means Committee (UFM).

The SHC, September 5, 2024, suspended the decision of the university.

However, the university registrar on September 25, 2025 published a “declaration”, declaring that Tariq Mahmood, son of Qazi Muhammad Akram, was found guilty of using unfair means in the late 1980s.

“”[He] was excluded for three years to admission to any university / college and appear in any university exam under the Disqualification Circular N ° 88 of 1989 and was never a student of Islamia Law College Karachi.

“In accordance with the union meeting held on August 31, 2024 Resolution of Vacuum No. 06, the LLB results and the degree of Tariq Mehmood bearing siege n ° 22857; registration No AIL-7124/87 is withdrawn and canceled. It is issued with the approval of vice-chancellor,” he added.

At the hearing on Friday, the defender General of Sindh Jawad Dero, the registrar of the KU, Dr. Imran Siddiqui, and other officials appeared before the bench. The clerk said that the University had received the opinion of justice only two days ago. He asked time to submit an answer.

Judge Jahangiri’s lawyer, lawyer Salahuddin, argued that the respondents may have time to submit their response, but the cancellation order should be suspended.

Judge Kalhoro pointed out whether the Ku cancellation order is then canceled, which will compensate for the damage caused to the judge. “This implies a reputation for a lifetime. He asked.

The registrar replied that he was newly displayed and that he was not aware. Judge Kalhoro noted that if the official appeared in court, he was to give an answer.

“Measures may have been taken by parhabin.

“We do not say that no action can be taken-the law allows it-but how can we put the honor of someone at stake? Even ex-play judgments are not considered good judgments,” he added.

The court then suspended the University’s decision to cancel the Jahangiri diploma and prohibited the measures on the union’s recommendations and the unjust resources committee. The bench will resume the hearing on October 24.

On September 30, the Supreme Court set aside a provisional order from Islamabad High Court (IHC) who had retained the Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri judge to perform judicial work. An IHC division bench led by chief judge Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar on September 16 prevented judge Jahangiri from doing his duties.
