Karachi:
The constitutional bench of the High Court of the Sindh (SHC), including judge KK Agha and judge Adnan-UL-Karim Memon, heard the acting governor Owais Qadir Shah questioning the locking of the governor’s offices.
The court ordered the immediate reopening of these offices and ordered the main secretary to submit a compliance report before June 23.
During the urgent hearing, the bench granted the acting governor an immediate access to the official residence of the Governor of Sindh. The court specifically ordered the unlocking of all offices (excluding private residential districts) and prevented the main obstruction secretary for the acting governor’s access.
The court also ordered that a copy of the judicial order is sent to the president of Pakistan and to the main secretary of the house of the governor, Sindh.
In the petition, it has been said that since the accusation has been assumed, the acting governor, Owais Qadir Shah, was denied entry into the governor’s house for official duties which constitutes a violation of article 104 of the Constitution. Governor Kamran Tessori has been abroad since June 2.
The acting governor of the Sindh, Owais Qadir Shah, informed the court that a meeting on the law and the order in the presence was provided for today, in particular to discuss questions related to the Muharram. The Minister of the Interior, the secretary, IG Sindh, and other officials reached the meeting.
However, the main secretary said the governor had won the keys to the office with him. Owais Qadir Shah said it was an act to consider the governor’s house as their personal show.
He quoted the Constitution, which clearly declares that in the absence of the governor, the acting governor can exercise his functions.
Owais Qadir Shah said he would write to the Minister -in -Chief, stressing that it was a mockery of the Constitution.
