Islamabad:
Mosson -related disasters have so far led to 295 deaths and more than 700 nationwide injuries, a government body announced on Friday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about the devastation caused by torrential rains in different parts of the country, the president of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Inam Haider Malik, said that more than 1,600 houses had been completely destroyed and 376 lived cattle due to bad weather.
Earlier, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the support of the federal government to guarantee the help and the resumption of the devastation of the monsoon assigned the regions of the Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and the cashmere (AJK).
The Prime Minister chaired a high-level exam meeting to assess the human and material losses caused by the current monsoon season, in particular in the Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Cashmire (AJK).
The session focused on immediate rescue efforts, future preparation and federal support for the affected regions, said a press release from the Prime Minister’s office.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed deep sadness on the tragic losses of lives and the important damage inflicted by torrential rains across the country, especially in GB and AJK. He reiterated the unwavering solidarity of the federal government with regional governments and affected people.
“The federal government is held in the shoulder with the administrations and citizens of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Cashmire in this hour of sorrow,” said the Prime Minister.
“I will soon visit Gilgit-Baltistan to express his solidarity with the victims, and a complete ensemble of federal aid will be announced to support the efforts of recovery and rehabilitation,” he added.
The Prime Minister has published special guidelines for all federal agencies to collaborate closely with the regional authorities to carry out damage assessments and accelerate relief measures. He underlined the need to prioritize vital interventions and protect human life and goods.
Stressing the need for better preparation for disasters, the Prime Minister ordered an urgent overhaul of the early alert system led by the Pakistan meteorological department to make it more proactive and efficient.
He also ordered the services concerned to restore and repair road networks and communication infrastructure in the event of an emergency to guarantee the delivery of assistance and mobility in a timely time in affected areas.
The Prime Minister highlighted a coordinated and quick response to minimize additional damage and ensure that affected people receive a timely assistance and rehabilitation.

Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction with the historic rise in the KSE-100 index of the Pakistani Stock Exchange, which exceeded the level of 140,000 points for the first time in history.
The qualifying as “a positive reflection of investor confidence”, the Prime Minister said that the upward trend on the stock market indicates growing confidence in government economic policies. “The rise in the stock market is a solid approval from our economic management,” he said in a statement published by the Prime Minister’s office.
Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that business and investment facilitation remains an absolute priority for its administration.
