Shehbaz pushes the green agenda to Dubai WGS

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday called on governments around the world to improve climate funding, technology sharing and multilateral support for emerging economies such as Pakistan to achieve sustainable economic growth.

Speaking at the World Summit of Governments (WGS), he stressed that the transition to a green economy was a shared global responsibility. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to mobilize internal resources and implement political reforms to support this change.

The Prime Minister invited private investors to explore the unexploited potential of Pakistan in green energy and infrastructure, stressing that international partnerships and financial support were crucial to achieve these objectives.

“Pakistan’s energy transition alone requires an investment of $ 100 billion,” said Shehbaz, addressing world leaders at the top. Despite significant challenges, he noted that stabilization of the economy had been a key achievement of his government in the past year.

He also highlighted positive economic indicators and the 5th framework of the government – exports, e -pakistan, environment, energy and infrastructure and equity and empowerment – as well as the “Uraan Pakistan” initiative.

“At the heart of this program is energy security and sustainability, not only as an economic necessity but as a national priority,” he said. Pakistan aims to produce 60% of its energy from clean sources by 2030 and transition 30% of all vehicles to electric mobility.

He informed the public that the government has quickly increased the production of solar, wind and nuclear energy. “The southern region of Pakistan contains 50,000 MW of unexpected wind power potential while northern hydroelectricity projects can add 30,000 MW of clean energy capacity,” he said.

He said Pakistan with 70% of its population with young dynamics under the age of 30, offered one of the most dynamic investment landscapes in Asia. “The strategic location of Pakistan Bridges South and Central Asia and its emerging middle class represents promising economic opportunities.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz has declared at the top that the government simplifying commercial regulations, improving legal protection and rationalization of the approval mechanism to make Pakistan a main destination for the world’s capital.

To stimulate investments in the key sectors of the economy, said the Prime Minister, the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has been created, focusing on renewable energies and resilient infrastructure, technology and Digital economy, minerals and industrial development, agriculture and food security.

“Pakistan adopts ecological agricultural innovation under the aegis of the adaptation policy of 2023 to improve productivity and ensure food security and strengthen our rural economy,” he said. The government also encouraged agriculture by deploying solar energy systems, he added.

“Pakistan is held at the threshold of the new era which has prioritized the progress of infrastructure, economic diversification and human development. The future is not something that we have inherited passively; it is rather something that we have been actively shaped, “he said.

He appreciated the direction of the United Arab Emirates (water) for welcoming the summit in Dubai. “Dubai is a city where the future meets the present. That this summit announces a dawn of world peace, a sustainable future and prosperous for all,” he said.

Speaking of the situation in Palestine, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan thought that sustainable and just peace was only possible by a two -state solution in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions for the creation of an independent state of independent of Palestine.

Later, Shehbaz visited the exhibition “Edge of Government” which highlighted global examples of improvement in governance and initiatives. On this occasion, the Prime Minister met the experts, providing modern solutions to the challenges of various sectors.

On the sidelines of the WGS, the Prime Minister met several world leaders, notably the President of Water and Sovereign of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister of Water and Sovereign of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister Kuwaiti Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, president of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayake and others.

During the meeting with the sovereign of Dubai, Shehbaz thanked Sheikh Al Maktoum for the invitation to WGS. He invited emiratic companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan. Sheikh Mohammed reiterated Dubai’s commitment to strengthen economic and cultural ties with Pakistan.

The Prime Minister thanked the water leaders for their constant support and their exceptional care extended to the Pakistani community with water. Sheikh al Maktoum greatly appreciated the contributions made by the Pakistani diaspora and their dedication to the development of water.

In addition, Shehbaz had discussions with the president of water Al Nahyan on issues of bilateral interest, including trade and economic cooperation and recent developments in the Middle East. They underlined the need to intensify international efforts for complete and lasting peace in Palestine.

The meeting, held in Qasr Al SHATI in Abu Dhabi, was followed by the chief of staff of the army, General Syed Asim MUNIR.

The meeting made it possible to deal with the importance of WGS in the identification of global governance trends and the presentation of exploitable strategies to improve the preparation of the government in the navigation of global transformations.

The Prime Minister also had discussions on bilateral issues with the president of the World Group DP Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem. He congratulated the recent successful visit to the Global Delegation of DP in Pakistan, which favored a significant collaboration in investments between the two parties.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of Pakistan and reaffirmed the commitment of the DP world to complete the projects in a timely manner and to explore new paths for cooperation. He announced plans for an exhibition room to water to promote Pakistani products.

Dubai, February 11 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting on Tuesday with Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, Kuwait Prime Minister on the sidelines of the World Government Summit (WGS) 2025.

Shehbaz and Al-Sabah, during a separate meeting in Dubai, reiterated their commitment to transforming existing relations into a solid mutually beneficial economic partnership. They underlined the need for a complete implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the President of Sri Lanka Dissanayake have discussed regional and multilateral issues, in particular by reinvigorating the South Asian association for regional countries (SAARC). They agreed to increase high -level exchanges for increased cooperation.

Later in the day, Shehbaz returned to the country after finishing his two -day visit to the water. He was accompanied by federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Awais Leghari, Muhammad Aurangzeb and Attaullah Tarar and special Tariq Fatemi.
