Former Interior Minister and prominent politician Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has been prevented from leaving the country despite orders from the Lahore High Court allowing him to perform Umrah. Rashid, who was traveling to Saudi Arabia via Dubai, was stopped by immigration officials at Islamabad International Airport.

In a video message recorded at the airport, he said he would address the court again, adding that all relevant authorities had received copies of the court orders ensuring there was no obstruction.

He said, “When the order of the High Court is not followed in a country, then only Allah can help us. Insha’Allah, Allah will allow me to perform Umrah and those who arrested me will regret their decision.”

Meanwhile, an FIA immigration officer, requesting anonymity, said the FIA does not independently add or remove names from the arrest list. “Sheikh Rashid’s name was still in the system and he was informed about it,” the officer said.
