Sherrone Moore’s tenure at Michigan came to an abrupt end, but there had apparently been some smoke long before the saga earlier this month.

Moore was fired after the University of Michigan said it discovered he had an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member. Shortly after, he was jailed after allegedly breaking into an employee’s house and threatening to kill himself.

Moore, however, reportedly had issues with aides inside the building, including during a heated argument with Wink Martindale earlier in the year.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Moore overheard his aides talking about possible hires. He then began berating staff members and did not want “people talking behind them.” [his] back.”

“Look, we’re trying to help you…get the right recruits,” Martindale reportedly said.

Moore would have asked an insulting question if Martindale knew what he was doing.

“Yeah, I’m just an old man,” Martindale, 61, was quoted as saying at the time.

Moore, in tears, then reportedly responded, “You don’t know how hard it is to be a head football coach and how much pressure there is,” and proceeded to criticize the newspapers.

ED ORGERON GIVES ADVICE TO SHERRONE MOORE AFTER SAGA THAT LEFT HIM FIRED AND ARRESTED

Moore, if convicted, faces more than half a decade behind bars, which would certainly further damage his hopes of returning to the sidelines. His next court date is January 22.

Moore went 16-8 as Michigan’s head coach, going 8-5 his first year, then 7-3 last season. He missed two games due to a suspended investigation into school sign theft.

Prosecutors accused Moore of contacting the staffer by phone and text after the breakup, prompting the woman to contact the University of Michigan and cooperate with its investigation. Moore was later fired from his job as head football coach, which prosecutors say prompted him to show up at her home.

Moore then allegedly “barged” into the residence, grabbed a butter knife and a pair of kitchen scissors and began threatening his own life. According to prosecutors, Moore told the staffer, “My blood is on your hands” and “You have ruined my life.”

A not guilty plea was entered for Moore during his first court appearance earlier this month.
