ISLAMABAD:
The Senate on Friday referred an adjournment motion regarding the implications of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority’s (Nepra) prosumer regulations to the relevant standing committee.
The motion, introduced by Senator Sherry Rehman under rule 88 of the Senate Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business, 2012, sought to discuss the potential impact of the regulations on Pakistan’s clean energy transition as well as the broader macroeconomic effects of continued reliance on expensive imported hydrocarbons. The Chairman, however, referred the matter to the relevant committee for further consideration.
