Sho among three martyred police officers in Karak’s attack

At least three police officers, including a resort’s house officer (SHO), were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire on a police patrol in the Banda Daud Shah district in the Karak district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to police, Sho Umar Nawaz was routine patrol with two gendarmes when their mobile suffered a sudden ambush. The attackers sprayed the ball vehicle, leaving the three officers who died on site.

A Karak police spokesman confirmed the incident and said the attackers had fled immediately after the assault. The security forces then completed the area and carried out a research operation.

The authorities have not yet published more details on the authors or the progress of the investigation.

In addition, on Tuesday, unidentified armed men attacked a passenger vehicle in Lower Kurram, killing at least seven people in KP. According to the police, the attackers opened fire on the passenger vehicle near Ahmad Khan Kalle and fled the premises. Kurram district police officer (DPO) Kurram Malik Habib said the attack was an attempt to sabot a peace in the region.

These recent ambushes occur in the midst of an increase in militant violence against the police in KP. In August alone, more than 13 attacks on firearms and grenades were launched by terrorists in seven districts, killing at least six police officers. Officials have described the assault on independence as a direct challenge to state authority.
