Here is premium news for fans of the best horror games, as Konami and Koei Tecmo team up for a joint collaboration between the Silent Hill and the next Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake.
Koei Tecmo confirmed via a press release that Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will receive Silent Hill-inspired costumes “at a later date as free downloadable content”. The horror game is currently scheduled for release on March 12, 2026.

In the same press release, Koei Tecmo confirmed that Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will get a free demo on March 5, 2026, one week before the game’s full launch. The demo will be available on all platforms the game releases on, including PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
This collaboration is excellent news for various reasons. On the one hand, it’s great to see two icons of the Japanese horror gaming space recognize each other in an official capacity. It also goes without saying that it’s a cool way to introduce fans of each series to the other.
This is certainly not the first time that Koei Tecmo has reached out to other developers for game collaborations. Last year, Atelier Yumia: The alchemist of memories and the imagined earth featured free content inspired by Tekken 8, and vice versa. Developer Atelier Gust really poured his heart into this one, with a stunning costume for Yumia based on Tekken newcomer Reina Mishima.
As for Fatal Frame 2 demo, I think it’s a bit of a shame that it arrives just a week before the launch of the game itself. But at least it will still provide a chance for those who are hesitant to try the game in advance without spending a dime.
Silent Hill is one of my favorite horror games; one with a poignant story that I still think about regularly. And while some Fatal frame-inspired costumes won’t set me back like a potential story expansion would, nonetheless it’s pretty awesome to see the game still getting content and updates in 2026.
