Sindh-chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced that this year’s independence day celebrations will take place over 14 days, from August 1 to 14, under the theme of Marka-E-Haq. »»

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi with the superior ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, he declared that prolonged celebrations demonstrate a unified effort of the federal and provincial governments to commemorate the national achievements of May.

He said the decision had been taken in coordination with the federal government to strengthen the importance of national independence.

August 14 would not be limited to a single day this year.

The chief minister noted that the armed forces of Pakistan gave a decisive response to the neighboring country, and the events throughout August will recognize him.

He added: “Those who do not participate in these celebrations will be noticed by people.”

“We have never accepted defeat. We will not cancel any program for fear of terrorism,” said Shah.

He assured that the police, the Rangers and the Pakistani army were fully ready to maintain public security during the celebrations.

He also called on the media to support the campaign by highlighting individuals, houses, vehicles, stores and public buildings decorated for independence.

Shah said that Sindh had always led forward and will continue to do so.

Commenting on the potential modifications of the cabinet, he added: “When I decide to make changes, I do it and everyone will know.”

In support, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori met a delegation from the Federation of Pakistani Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), led by the Senior Vice-President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, to discuss the preparations for independence.

Tessori stressed the importance of business world participation in the “Marka-E-Haq” campaign and said it was collective responsibility to celebrate the opportunity in a worthy manner.
