Karachi:
The Sindh government published a notification on Monday to extend the last date to acquire the new numb plates for vehicles from August 14 to October 31.
The notification has occurred a few hours after the Minister of Accoise and Taxation of the Sindh, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, said on the floor of the Sindh Assembly that the Sindh government could consider extending the date of new digital plates.
The new license plates with Ajrak Design have special characteristics which, according to the government, are readable by the surveillance cameras of the SAFE city project.
Responding to a notice of appeal by the member of the MQM Qurat-ul-Ain Khan during the session of the Sindh Assembly on Monday, he declared that the new plates were applicable through the Sindh and the application will be strict everywhere.
He mentioned that the new registration plates had been introduced in 2021 and, in two to three months, new centers will be created in Korangi, in the site of the site, and Gulshan-E-Iqbal. The Khan of Qurat-Ul stressed that the application is lax in rural areas, while Karachi residents are unnecessarily targeted. “The deadline given is too short and the public faces serious difficulties. The government should reconsider,” she said.
Consequently, the deadline has been extended by the government.
The Sindh Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution to pay tribute to the martyred police. The resolution was presented by Farooq Awan, member of the People’s Party of Pakistan Peoples (PPP), who called on the Sindh government to provide health care, education and a set of special services for the families of the police martyrs.
The Minister of the Interior, Sindh Zia-UL-Hassan, Lanjar supported the resolution, declaring: “Today, it is the police party, and the resolution is of great importance in the house. He said he had personally visited the regions of Katcha, where police courageously conduct operations against terrorists. These areas are so difficult to access the fact that even the APCs (transporter transporters of armored staff) are stuck, but the police remain resolved. “”
The Minister of Local Government, Saeed Ghani, also supported the resolution, saying that the services of Farooq Awan are part of history. “He was attacked but returned to the field with renewed dedication,” he said. Ghani also underlined the need for modern weapons and technologies police, stressing that “terrorists have access to advanced weapons and facilities that the police do not do”.
He paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistani army, rangers and intelligence agencies, noting that peace was only carried out thanks to their joint efforts.
The head of the opposition, Ali Khursheedi, also honored the police and other martyrs of the security force as a source of national pride, saying: “We must equip the police with modern arms so that they can effectively exercise their functions”.
