Sindh government to establish modern media university in Karachi

The Sindh government has announced plans to establish a modern media university in Karachi.

According to Mustafa Abdullah Baloch, spokesperson for the Sindh government, the university will promote history and cultural heritage. The initiative will be undertaken on the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Abdullah Baloch said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had instructed the Sindh Chief Minister to launch the project, which aims to showcase the historical and cultural heritage of Sindh globally.

The spokesperson further mentioned that the Sindh government plans to develop the institution as per international standards for promoting media education, research and innovation.

Highlighting past achievements, he noted that several projects under public-private partnerships have been successfully completed.

He added that the media university will be established under a public-private partnership model and will serve as a new hub of progress, creativity and cultural pride for the people of Sindh.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Chief Minister has asked the Education Ministry to formulate the province’s first-ever transgender education policy.

The government spokesperson said that in the past, the provincial government had approved employment quotas for transgender people under the Sindh Civil Services Amendment Act, which allows the transgender community to get government jobs, both on merit and through reserved quota.

Earlier, an agreement was reached to establish a coordination mechanism to help students from Sindh pursue medicine and nursing in Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting between Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah and Kyrgyz Minister of Education and Science Dogdorkul Kendirbaeva also included discussions on increasing the number of students from Sindh studying in Kyrgyzstan.
