Sindh is looking for the closure of the TAUNSA PANJNAD liaison channel

The Sindh irrigation service sent a new letter on Thursday – its second in 48 hours – to the Industry System Authority (IRSA), urging the immediate closure of the Taunsa Panjnad (TP) liaison canal to prevent water shortages in the province.

The growing controversy on the canal operations intensified after Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah strongly criticized the Punjab government for having diverted water to the TP Camal link. In response, the IRSA maintained that all decisions had been made in accordance with the law.

On Tuesday, the Sindh irrigation service wrote to the IRSA, calling for a stop in the transfer of water from the Indus to the Jhelum-Chenab system.
