Lahore:
The attempt to rescue a journalist from PML-N-Lean on his unpleasant and derogatory remarks against the Sindhi people brought the government of the Sindh, led by the PPP, the Government of the Sindh, led by the PPP.
The first said that he did not play the “card in the province” – an accusation that the second had explicitly made through a party platform.
Journalist Rizwan Razi, who until recently was also employed by state television, in one of his vlogs pronounced highly animated, racist and offensive remarks against the Sindhi people.
His explosion landed him before the Senate Committee for Rules of Procedure and Privileges, where it was recommended that his YouTube channel be blocked and that it is put on black list.
At that time, he had already been dismissed from PTV – a member of the moving committee considered insufficient. On social networks, however, many friendly users in the ruling party have criticized the insistence of the Committee on Action against Razi despite its unconditional apology.
Unexpectedly, the chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, also jumped into the fray, expressing his solidarity with Razi. She said Punjabis have always sacrificed for the country without promoting hatred or discord and congratulated Razi’s open excuses as a sign of “high moral character”.
Maryam criticized those who spread provincial prejudices and hate speech without responsibility, while innocent punjabis, she said, are confronted with persecution based solely on their identity cards. She stressed that the rejection of hatred policy and provincial divisions is essential for a stronger Pakistan.
The story of “persecution based on Punjab identity cards”, although unrelated to the indecent remarks of Sindh or Razi, seemed to be an attempt to evoke sympathy for him.
The central management of the PPP has abstained from any immediate response. According to initiates, the leaders were invited to react to Maryam Nawaz’s declaration, but, given the new proximity of the party with PML-N, they remained hesitant.
