The Sindh transport service has officially launched an online system for the issuance of fitness certificates for the province’s commercial vehicles.

This new initiative, which began on March 25, aims to rationalize the process, reduce corruption and improve transparency, said Express News.

The Higher Minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, announced that two new fitness centers in Karachi – at the Zulfiqarabad oil tanker in Malir and Ibrahim Hyderi in Korangi – began to carry out physical inspections of commercial vehicles.

These centers are equipped with advanced tools and equipped with qualified technical teams to ensure that vehicles meet safety standards before fitness certificates are issued by motor vehicle inspectors.

“With the introduction of this online system, we are targeting a paperless office environment, better income management and the elimination of fraudulent documentation,” said Memon.

He stressed that the new system covers the Provincial Transport Authority, the Regional Transport Authority and the Regional Regional Transport Authorities, marking a major reform of the department.

In the initial phase, 63 vehicles were inspected in the new centers, 30 vehicles being issued by fitness certificates and 33 vehicles deemed unfit.

The second phase will extend this service to another division headquarters across the Sindh.

Memon added that the online publication of route permits and fitness certificates guarantees greater transparency and makes the entire process more responsible.

The new system includes modern security features, allowing immediate verification of vehicles on site.
