The bodies of six members of two families who had drowned in the Industry and Jhelum rivers were found.
In Bhakkar, a family outing to the Indus river ended with a tragedy when a 21 -year -old woman drowned with her two young cousins. According to local officials, a six -year -old girl slipped into the river, after which her 13 -year -old sister jumped to save her.
Seeing the two girls drowning, their 21 -year -old cousin also jumped into the river to save them. However, the current stream swept the three in more water.
Hearing the cries using Lal Shah, the woman’s husband, the local residents began a search and recovered the bodies of the river after about half an hour.
Bhakkar district police officer Shehzad Rafiq Awan told L’Express PK Press Club that the deceased woman had married 15 days earlier and visited a parent, Syed Taqqi Shah, Jhok Jando, with her husband, from neighboring Behal.
Due to the proximity of the river, they had done tourism at the Dyke Basti Mian Khan with the two young cousins.
The funeral of the woman took place in Kathanwalla and the daughters of Taqi Shah in Jhok Jando.
The DPO explained that the incident had occurred during the day and that the water was seven to eight feet deep in the place where the six -year -old girl had drowned. Her 13 -year -old sister and her bride’s cousin jumped into the same dangerous area to try to save her, allowing the three to lose their lives.
While the area descended into the gloom of the tragedy, the manager stressed the importance of avoiding taking young children to the riversides.
He suggested that even adults should prefer alternative locations for leisure.
Meanwhile, the bodies of three members of a family from Kot Lashkari Khan in the Sahiwal district were recovered from River Jhelum.
The family had gone to the river for leisure on the third day of Eid. A woman took selfies near the river when she slipped into the water. Her sister tried to save her.
Finally, four family members were swept away trying to save themselves from drowning.
Local residents managed to save a young man, Zeeshan Anwar.
Sarfaraz Raja, his wife Nida and his Nazia SAJJAD sister-in-law drowned in the river. Their bodies were found seven kilometers downstream 8 p.m. later.
The bodies were recovered by local divers and rescue 1122 teams.
