At least six people were killed and 38 others – including women and children – injured when a passenger bus plunged into a throat near the chakri exchange on the M -2 motorway. The accident would have been caused by speed on the slippery roads in the middle of the rainy weather.
Depending on the details, a passenger bus carrying 43 passengers headed for Multan from Rawalpindi; However, while he was near Chakri exchange on the M-2 motorway, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to the slippery road and the unfortunate bus fell into a ravine.
Five people died on the spot, while 38 other people were injured and moved to the hospital. Later, one of the injured women succumbed to her injuries. Among the injured are women, children and the elderly. The state of six injured is critical.
After receiving information, the highway police, the 1122 rescue and other rescue agencies rushed to the scene, provided first aid to the injured and transferred them to the hospitals.
Some injured passengers said that the driver accelerated despite slippery road conditions, which led to the tragic accident.
A passenger woman said the bus was overcrowded and moved at high speed, which had caused the accident.
According to rescue 1122 and the highway police officials, five passengers died on the spot and 38 were injured in the accident. Among the injured, 23 were transferred to the district headquarters hospital, Chakwal, 8 in Pims and 7 to the Hospital of the Rawalpindi district headquarters, while four bodies were transferred to the district headquarters, Rawalpindi and one to the district headquarters, Chakwal. Later, one of the injured women, namely Irum Batool, succumbed to his hospital injuries, passing the number of deaths to six.
The dead are identified as Erum Batool, Zafar Iqbal of Vihari, Samina Nasir of Mian Chunnu, Murag Faheem of Wah Cantt, Navida Nahid of Pir Mahal and Ashraf.
