EXCLUSIVE: Former volleyball assistant coach of the San Jose State University, Melissa Batie-Smose, with the university expired on Friday, and she was told that she would not be renewed, she said exclusively PK Press Club Digital.
His departure comes after a season plagued by a scandal involving a trans athlete, in which Batie-Smose has taken a firm position to oppose the defense by the university of this athlete. She and her family initially moved to California from the East Coast to accept the position in 2023.
“We have not made the decision to move our family through the country lightly lightly, but I believe that everything happens for a reason, and I was supposed to be in the state of San Jose to defend These young women and do everything I could protect future generations. Standing, “she told PK Press Club Digital.
The state of San Jose refused to comment on the contractual situation of Batie-Smose when contacted by PK Press Club Digital.
“SJSU does not comment on personnel issues,” said a university spokesperson.
Batie-SMOOSE was suspended from the program on November 2 after having filed a complaint in title IX against the university concerning his alleged treatment of a situation involving the former transgender player Blaire Fleming. The complaint included allegations according to which Fleming had plotted with an opponent for hitting Slusser in the face during a match in October.
“I spoke to the young women of the team who was silent and in Gaslit while facing a male athlete in their locker room, on the field and in the room with them on the road. I could no longer be silenced and manipulated I had to defend what was good, “she said.
“Speaking to protect these young women and future women was too much to ignore. It cost me my job, but we need more coaches to defend what is good. I just have to pray to do the right thing that Justice I will prevail and I will be able to continue to do what I had to do. ”
Batie-Smose is also currently engaged in a trial against the state of San Jose and the Mountain West alongside 11 current and old players.

The trial is led by the former co-captain of the State of San Jose, Brooke Slusser, who alleges that she had been forced to share rooms and change space with Fleming for an entire season while the University has retained the truth about the sex of Fleming’s birth of its players and others.
The Slusser trial and the complaint of the title IX of Batie-Smose allege that Fleming plotted with the Volleyball player in the State of Colorado, Malaya Jones, before the match between the two programs on October 3. Slusser has never been enriched in the face during this match, but the Colorado State won in two sets.
A Mountain West investigation into the allegations of Batie-Smose has not found sufficient evidence to assign a discipline to any player who has been appointed to allegations, which was indicated in a letter obtained by PK Press Club Digital which was addressed to San Jose State Sports director Jeff Konya and the Sports Director of the Colorado State, John Weber of the Mountain West commissioner, Bret Gilliland.
This letter did not address allegations in the Slusser trial which provided an additional context on the incident, and did not address the specific notion of an alleged conspiracy for having struck slusser in the face. The letter simply referred to all the allegations listed in the complaint as “contest manipulation”.
Gilliland said any evidence to support complaints was insufficient, but did not explicitly declare that the allegations were false, according to the letter.
The letter indicated that the conference investigation included interviews with coaches and student-athletes from the State of San Jose and the State of Colorado. However, the letter did not specifically declare that individuals had been interviewed. The conference refused to provide details on those who had been questioned when they asked by PK Press Club Digital.

Slusser’s lawyer Bill Bock provided a statement to PK Press Club Digital by insisting that the investigation had been “infected with biases”.
“Because the MWC investigation was inadequate, and anything but meticulous, and because the MWC closing letter is riddled with errors, the undersigned emits this refutation and demands that the MWC is released immediately and publicly: (1) The Investigation report prepared by his investigator (s) and (2) all the documents related to the “in -depth investigation” of the MWC and on which the decision of the MWC not to continue was based, “Read the Bock Declaration .
Slusser previously told PK Press Club Digital that she had been enriched with the face by a volleyball in the past, and that the “biaise, but you simply brush yourself”. However, during their first season together in 2023, Slusser declared that she had taken one of the Fleming tips at her thigh, then had to breastfeed black bruises on her thigh for a whole week after that. Slusser says that she didn’t even know that Fleming was a Trans athlete at the time.
Slusser also told PK Press Club Digital that the suspension of Batie-Smose had left some of his teammates in tears.

“After discovering that she had been released, a large part of the team has sort of broken down and was a little panicked, and even one of my teammates was like” I no longer feel safe “because because There is no one now that we have the impression that we can go talk to our concerns or our real feelings and that we can really speak freely before, “said Slusser.
Slusser said she didn’t feel safe to speak with someone else involved in the program, in particular head coach Todd Kress.
“You cannot really express to what you feel without just trying to cover it or act as if all is well. With Melissa, you can express what you feel, and it could comfort you and Validate your feelings and at least do you feel heard, compared to other coaches, “said Slusser.
SJSU continued to play in the conference championship match against Colorado State on November 30 but lost. The loss maintained Fleming, Slusser and the rest of the Spartans of the NCAA tournament. Batie-Smose was in the match in Las Vegas, Nevada, this weekend to support its former players, despite its suspension by the program.
Almost each of the players of the 2024 SJSU team who was eligible for the NCAA entered the transfer portal, PK Press Club Digital reported.
“I think he said a lot that the majority of the team transferred because they did not want to be subject to mental anxiety that the University put them. Batie-Smose told PK Press Club Digital.
Meanwhile, the Slusser trial against school and the conference has not yet been tried. Slusser is also engaged in the Riley Gaines trial against the NCAA on its policies on gender ideology which allows athletes to compete in female sports.
