Sleuths to check the second alleged marriage of Sidra

Significant progress has been reported in the investigation into the honor murder of Sidra, 21, which took place in the jurisdiction of the Pirwadhai police station in Rawalpindi.

A Rawalpindi police team was sent to Muzaffarabad to check the alleged marriage of Sidra with her second husband, Usman. His family will also be officially included in the survey and their statements will be registered.

According to police sources, the investigation team, led by sub-unuspector Shoaib Ahmed, left for Muzaffarabad, at Cashmere de l’Azad. Their main objective is to confirm the alleged marriage of Sidra with USMAN, to obtain official documentation of the marriage and to record declarations of USMAN and family members.

Meanwhile, seven suspects in the case, notably Ismatullah, Ziaur Rehman, Arab Gul, Amani Gul, Zafarullah, Saleh Muhammad and the pusher Khayal Muhammad, remain in pre-trial detention. Two other suspects, the engraver Rashid Mehmood and the secretary of the Saifur Rehman cemetery committee were sent to prison in pre -trial detention.

The police also took possession of the DVR of the video surveillance cameras of Ismatullah’s house and initiated the process of decoding its content. However, officials faced technical challenges to decode the device, which prompted the hiring of technical experts. Investigators are particularly interested in the images recorded between July 11 and 17 and in the period which followed the incident.

Until now, the survey has led to the recovery of the charger rush used to transport Sidra’s body, turnover tools and other key evidence. However, the pillow that would have been used in murder has not yet been recovered.
