- The deep blue iPhone 17 pro and space black iPhone Air would easily be scratched easily
- These phones can also show visible brands after being used with Magsafe accessories
- Lighter colors seem less affected
The iPhone 17 series is solid, these phones making great criticism and apparently in high demand, but now that they have arrived in the hands of buyers, we hear reports of a potential problem.
As Bloomberg has reported, a number of buyers find that these handsets are easily scratched, with the iPhone 17 Blue Deep and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the Space Black Air is apparently the most likely to scratch visible.
Most scrapers seem to be on the glass panel under the camera block, as seen in this post X of @Amismured, but some images and videos also show scratches on the camera case.
@Apple sorry but #Scratchgate is real and very disappointing – a case will help you, but I even think a few minutes without a case in the pocket with keys and the phone is damaged – really shame! There are even reports of visible marks left by Magsafe chargers, as you can see in the images shared by Conseomac, it therefore seems that these iphone shades really show damage.
This is probably why the other shades – most of which are lighter – are not so problematic, because even if they can be so easy to scratch, the stripes may be less visible on them.
Beyond that, Apple’s decision to go from titanium to the Aluminum IPHIP 16 Pro series for the iPhone 17 Pro could also have an impact.
Beauty
It is unfortunate, because when it is spotless, they are beautiful phones, and the dark blue shade is quite striking, while the black space is sure to be very popular – as are generally black nuances.
However, we would not say that you should avoid these colors now. On the one hand, we do not know how widespread these scratch reports are, so your phone could be good. On the other hand, although the scratches are not desirable, they are purely cosmetic, so will not affect the functionality of your device.
And we always recommend putting an expensive phone in a case anyway – it may be all the more important here.
We have contacted Apple to comment on this scratch problem and update this article if we hear.
