Some older Garmin watches experience burning problems on their screens, leaving an imprint on the screen that does not disappear. This happens on some of the best Garmin watches, such as the Garmin Fenix and Epix series.
For the first time via notebookcheck, the Garmin Epix Gen 2 and Garmin Fenix 6 Pro could show signs of OLED burning. Here’s why it happens.
Garmin displays can be affected by Burn-in

As you can see in the image on the Reddit wire above, the burn-in has left an Epix Gen 2 seeming to have two screens in one, with data that is not supposed to be on the screen being clearly readable.
The user in question in fact pointed out that he switches between the Epix Garmin and an Apple Watch, the latter being worn during the week. This would suggest that, although “on the platform”, the Garmin constantly displays information on the system while loading, increasing the chances of burning Oled.
Burn-in is particularly likely on a smartwatch sitting on a load station, because the devices often did not refresh their information as regularly as a phone or tablet, or even a television. This means that system information as well as battery life should ultimately be burned.
However, it is not only the OLED panels that seem to suffer from burn-in. Another Thread Reddit suggested that a MIP screen (pixel memory) on a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro could undergo the same fate.
The screenshot clearly displays two layers of information on the screen, the traditional dials of a Garmin watch appearing under the layer where a user selects his training.
A commentator suggested that burn-in Mip could be reversible because it is caused by a load imbalance caused by static, so if you see signs of this, consider changing the modes or deactivating the device for a while. Other users of the comments also report Fenix 7 and Venu 2 Amoled Burn-in.
For more general prevention, you can consider extinguishing the features always on your device. This not only minimizes the duration of the elements on the screen, but also helps to extend the life of the battery (although the Garmin devices are not to be outdone in this regard).
