- Sony announced the beta program in PlayStation
- It provides a “centralized place” to keep track of the PS5 and PC tests
- The tests can include PS5 and PC games as well as the upcoming console features
Sony announced a new initiative called Beta Program in Playstation, which aims to offer a practical center to keep track of all pre-liberation tests for coming games on PS5 and PC as well as new features.
The PlayStation blog post that accompanies it has all the details, with Sid Shuman, Senior Director of SIE content communications, describing the initiative as “an easy and centralized place to record your interest in a range of future PlayStation beta”.
It does not seem too different from the Xbox initiate program for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC which allow users to record interest in a range of tests for new games and features.
The message continues: “A single recording program for beta on PlayStation will allow you to express an interest in obtaining beta access to test the participating games for the PS5 console and the PC, the new features of the PS5 console, the features of the PlayStation application and even the features of the user experience on PlayStation.com.
“You only need to register once to express your interest in these various beta, and if you receive an invitation to a specific beta version, it’s up to you to decide whether you want to participate or not.”
You can register for the Beta program at PlayStation on its dedicated destination page, the only requirements being that you have a valid PlayStation account, live in a sustained region and that you are or higher than legal age requirements for your region.
In addition, it should be noted that registration in the Beta to PlayStation program does not necessarily guarantee entries in all game and functionalities. This seems to be more a way to collect these tests in a place of practical registration instead of having to browse blog articles or separate e-mails.
