Sony announced American prices for its new high -end Sony Bravia 8 II TV – but unlike the United Kingdom, where the price is very competitive with the LG G5, the American prices of Sony are much higher than the G5.
Indeed, they are also much higher than the recently unveiled price of the Samsung S95F, which uses the same QD panel.
When I spoke to Sony during the launch of the United Kingdom of Bravia 8 II, I was told that the price of the new TV would be lower than that of the Sony A95L, the high-end OLED of the company. This seems to have only applied in the United Kingdom, because Bravia 8 II is a higher price than the A95L was at launch in the United States.

What we do not know is if this price facilitates the costs of the prices expected or not – Sony may include them, and that LG and Samsung will soon have to increase prices.
However, Sony has a history of its upcoming television and audio products with a relatively high price for American customers, so it is the initially planned prices, and they can increase further in the near future, although we do not yet know what will be the full effect of prices.
Sony has not yet announced a release date for the TV, although it is due to an release in early June in the United Kingdom.
Sony has also published prices for its new mid -range television Bravia 5, and its budget budget Bravia 2 II (yes, it’s Bravia 2 Mark II, a horrible denomination decision).

Bravia 2 II is a LED TV led by Direct, and includes the Sony X1 processor, which was in its flagship televisions – although with without local backlight, do not expect an incredible contrast.
Bravia 5 is a very interesting TV with its larger sizes, especially. I saw him in real life, but only briefly, and it is brilliant, and a mini-light decently decently a solid contrast. But with larger sizes, the excellent treatment of Sony should help you make sure you do not see imperfections in streaming or HD video during visualization on a 4K blown screen.
Another difficult battle for Sony?
In the United Kingdom, the price of the Bravia 8 II is really exciting – the 65 inch Sony is slightly cheaper than the LG G5, which could really shake our ranking of the best OLED televisions, because it means that the choice is strongly to the quality of the image, and Sony is evaluated Really Much there.
But in the United States, if the Bravia 8 II remains $ 600 at $ 1,000 more than the equivalents of LG and Samsung, it will have trouble piercing. Yes, the Sony almost certainly has a better integrated sound, but that does not matter if you can buy a large soundbar for less than the price difference between them.
And I said that the Bravia 8 II seems to have a part of the best image quality on the planet of my early demo, but will the difference be large enough to justify this type of price difference? I find it hard to believe it, even if we will test the LG G5, the Samsung S95F and Sony Bravia 8 II side by side when they all start to decide which is the best television, so watch this space.
