Is Sony about to announce a new camera? Or maybe even two? The evidence points this way, even if the details are extremely thin on the ground.
Sony Alpha Rumors has updated a short news today, adding the “ confirmation ” that the company will unveil a new camera without mirror online on May 28, 2025. As for what this camera could be, the story barely speculates – although it says that it will not be a successor to the Sony A7 IV.
We have long suspected that a new Sony A7 model is on the way, however, and the fact that the current Sony A7 IV price released in 2021 recently dropped to record the stockings strongly suggests that something is in sight. So, we are still expecting that a new full basic model of Sony will be announced this year – just may not be on May 28.
A view of an inclination
Although the room is light on the details, the story of Sony Alpha Rumors mentions that the new camera can have an “inclined EVF design”. The tilting visers are a rarity on the cameras without mirror, but we have already seen them – perhaps more particularly on the Panasonic Lumix GX9, published on the Lumix GX9.
The GX9 has a compact tertimeter style design, where allowing the tilt viewfinder makes it more comfortable to use, so maybe Sony de Sony de Sony will have an equally compact body. Sony has published many APS-C-Mount cameras with this type of design over the years, such as the A6500 and the A6100. Could the model supposed to be announced on May 28, be something new in this line?
But the Sony News does not stop there. A second floor on the rumors of Sony Alpha apparently reveals that Sony recently recorded two new cameras in China: one on April 21 and another on May 9. The two models will include a double band Wi-Fi, but the first will be made in China while the second will be made in Japan.
If the launch complaints of May 28 are true, one of these cameras will probably be announced that day. Could the other also be revealed at the same time, or will it be retained until the fall, another popular period of the year for new cameras?
