It’s called a sporting equinox, and it happens once in 2025, on Monday, October 27.
It’s a rare day when all four major American sports leagues: the National Football League, Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League all have games scheduled.
“On that day, you have ten NBA games. You have two NHL games. You have a Monday Night Football game, and then you have Game 3 of the World Series,” says Bill Speros, senior betting analyst at Bookies.com.
Added to the excitement is the opportunity to see some of the best athletes from each league playing at the same time.
“There will be a period Monday night where, in the span of an hour, you can see Shohei Ohtani, Patrick Mahomes, Sidney Crosby and Steph Curry all playing,” Speros says.
And analysts say this action can be fun for those looking to bet.
“You can make multi-sport prop bets. So you could bet maybe on Shohei Ohtani, how many hits he might get… With Patrick Mahomes, you might want to make him over-under on yards or completions. With Crosby, maybe he gets a goal or an assist? And with Steph Curry, maybe it’s over/under on his point total or his assist total decisive,” explains Speros.
At the same time, interest in legal sports betting is also helping to boost ratings for many games.
“Every week they break records. And those numbers are largely due to the game,” Speros says.
And when it comes to placing bets responsibly, experts advise going through a legally licensed sportsbook or online betting site.
