I have been a faithful spotify subscriber from the best part of 10 years, and there are several reasons why I stayed with (my day list is the first thing that comes to mind). However, despite this, there are several drawbacks to one of the best music streaming services – its smart shuffle function by being one. But now there is a new way to completely deactivate this boring feature.
Spotify introduced Smart Shuffle in 2023, a functionality that weaves song recommendations between those of your personally organized reading lists, and that was not suitable for music fans – me including – to say the least. Fortunately, you no longer have to endure its troubles because the users have spotted a new way to deactivate it.
Users in the Eagle Eye on Reddit drew attention to the new drop in reading methods “ activate all the modes’ in the SPOTIFY application settings that have been added very quietly. When this parameter is activated, you can sift the linear options, mix and smart shuffle when listening to your reading lists. Disable it deactivates Smart Shuffle for all your reading lists.
You can now delete smart shuffle! of R / TREESPOTIFY
This new parameter appears differently for certain users (see below) but has exactly the same functionality. So far, it seems that it gradually deploys globally – I have already taken advantage – so it may not yet be visible for all Spotify users.

Goodbye Smart Shuffle, we never needed you anyway
Although it was designed to inspire a new life ” in your listening experience and offer a personal alternative to discovery of personal music, a large part of the Spotify subscribers did not warm up overall, complaining that its rotation of song suggestions lacks variety and does not keep up to its promises of daily renewal. In addition to that, Smart Shuffle interrupts the standard reshuffle function.
When Spotify first released Smart Shuffle, I collapsed mainly as a way to find similar songs to fill my specific reading lists, another way to use the list of recommended songs ” at the bottom of each reading list. At first it was practical, but the novelty dissipated quite quickly.
For a feature that uses your musical habits as well as the knowledge of Spotify music experts to offer new song suggestions, this is not the most dynamic music discovery functionality and lack of scope. There are much better features for the discovery of music – I want the faithful reading list of the new Friday music that is generated every week, and I will repeat my weakness for the day of Spotify. So, for now, it’s time to deactivate Smart Shuffle until Spotify can find a better solution.
