- Resolution, VFX, lighting and more graphic characteristics have been improved for the PS5 and PS5 Pro
Stalker 2: Heart of ChornobylThe technical producer of Yevhenii Kulyk, revealed that GSC Game World aimed to launch the game on PS5 to 4K 60 frames per second (FPS) in quality mode.
Speaking in an interview with Techradar Gaming in Gamescom 2025, Kulyk confirmed that the PS5 PRO version will support 4K 60FPS when played both on performance and quality modes, although more textures have been added to improve the latter.
On the other hand, the basic PS5 version will offer a quality mode at 4K 30FPS, while the performance mode is currently at 2K 60FPS, but the studio aims at 4K 60FPS at launch.
“Right now, we’re going to 2k in 60 for the basic version, but we are aiming to hit this 4K to also strike parity,” said Kulyk. “So we want to take care of, at launch, 4K on the basic version for quality and performance.”
The developer explained that the team has included additional improvements with the PS5 PRO version by modifying the scalability parameters, which should improve game environments.
“You may notice that in the pro version, it is a better way to discover the atmosphere of the game, because we have changed the quality of the shadows. We have changed certain resolution techniques,” said Kulyk. “We have changed the VFX, the quality of shade and volumetric stuff, such as volumetric clouds and volumetric lighting, so it’s completely perceptible, but always, PlayStation 5 is an absolutely good way to play with our game and experience it.”
The communications director of GSC Game World, Zakhar Bocharov, also added that he thought that “the most beautiful version” is the PS5 Pro Quality mode, but admitted that he would always prefer playing game in performance mode with a 60 image per second guaranteed.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox Game Pass and PC, but will arrive on PS5 and PS5 Pro on November 20, 2025.
