Standard Chartered (STAN) and Coinbase (COIN) Expand Crypto Prime Services for Institutions

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase (COIN) and crypto-friendly bank Standard Chartered (STAN) said they have expanded their digital assets partnership to explore the development of trading products, premium services, custody, staking and lending for institutional clients.

The agreement builds on the existing partnership between the two companies in Singapore, where Standard Chartered provides banking connectivity that enables real-time Singapore dollar transfers for Coinbase customers, according to a press release.

Coinbase is increasingly becoming a trusted name among institutions, including banks, over time, especially with the recent news that JPMorgan (JPM) has brought its JPM Coin deposit token to Base, the US exchange’s layer 2 blockchain.

“We aim to explore how both organizations can support secure, transparent and interoperable solutions that meet the highest standards of security and compliance,” Margaret Harwood-Jones, Standard Chartered’s global head of finance and securities services, said in the release.
